ABSTRACT
Occurrence of tar-tar on teeth is triggered by some
factors, such as: frequency and the time of teeth brushing, and also food. The aim of this research is to find out which
factors relate to the occurrence of tar-tar on patients’ teeth at the
Polyclinic of Dental Health, Health Polytechnic of Health Department, Kupang in
2008. Kind of research is survey analytical by using cross
sectional study design. Sample of research is patients’ teeth at the Polyclinic
of Dental Health, Health Polytechnic of Health Department, Kupang. Data was
collected by using interview and survey methods. Number of sample are 78
patients have been taken as the sample.
The result of the statistical test shows that there is
no relationship between the frequency of teeth brushing and the occurrence of
tar-tar. However, there is a relationship between both the time of teeth
brushing and the food consumed to the occurrence of tar-tar. Result of statistic test by using fisher exact test
indicated that there is significant correlation between the occurrence of
tar-tar with time of teeth brushing and the value of closeness of correlation
is 30,7% Significant correlation between the occurrence of tar-tar with the
food consumed and the value of closeness of correlation is 48%.
