ABSTRACT

This research aims to analyze factors that influence respondent’s suckling habits of 107 suckling mothers who have 6 to 12 month old children at Puskesmas Tarus area services. Colectted Primary data involved mother’s nutrition knowledge, sources of suckling information for mothers, psychology of mothers, and other factors that influence mothers psychology. Whereas, collected secondary data involved sources of livelihood and copying mechanism. Mother’s nutrition kowledge was tested using a question list, and the rest of the prymary data was taken by interview. The result of the research showed that there was relationship between mother’s knowledge and psychology with suckling habits. Most of suckling information for mothers came from paramedic and nursing officer, while mother’s psychology was affected by husband’s spport and family problems. Calm household, clean house and body image factors were experienced by mothers but hose factors did not affect suckling mother’s psychology. Somehow, mother’s contra indications that experienced by mothers such as inflamation and breast pain did not affect mother’s suckling habits.
